Vitis Hincesti is one of the oldest existing Moldovan wineries. It is well known to the western wine connoisseurs thanks to the success of Kirkwood Chardonnay produced here. The winery was started by Manuc Bei, the attendant to the Turkish Pasha and the Russian Tzar, who delivered the best local wines to a wide range of destinations across Europe.
Nowadays, Vitis Hincesti is a winery featuring state of the art modern equipment and the only one in Moldova certified to produce VDO and VDOC wines equivalent to the French AOC (Appellation d''Origine Controllee). The winery is among the first in Moldova to start producing organic wines.
