Ron Millonario Solera 15 Reserva Especial is derived from sugar cane molasses. Carefully selected, it goes through the watchful process of fermentation, distillation and ageing, bringing together old and modern techniques, and uniting art, science and tradition.

Years of careful observation and selection have given rise to perfectly adapted yeasts that slowly convert the molasses into alcohol giving the rum its characteristic bouquet.

Three old Scottish column stills stand there in readiness, and here the must obtained from the fermentation process is slowly distilled to extract and concentrate the alcohol into a distillate.

Ron Millonario Solera 15 Reserva Especial owes its select aroma and flavour to its painstaking ageing and maturation. The strong, quick hands of the distillery’s very own coopers make casks from American and Slavonian oak. Four rows of the solera system are employed, and after fifteen years of ageing, the enrichment of the rum’s quality is assured.

- Nose: Intensely characteristic, rich and persistent. Candied fruit, prunes. Intriguingly complex and subtle combinations of honeysuckle and cloves with notes of sherry and hints of nutmeg.

- Palate: Deliciously rich and sweet. Butter toffee, molasses and dates, giving it a pudding-like quality with traces of dried fruit and redolent of an American cola.

- Finish: Firm finish of good length, the sweetness sublimely balanced and a fine oiliness coating the tongue pleasingly. Highly drinkable and enjoyable

And it’s not just the rum that appeals. Dressed in the traditional colours of north Peru, groups of women artisans, their tanned hands and nimble fingers a blur, weave strands of bleach-white Toquilla straw, from the Carluduvica Palmata, into whatever design they wish to produce. The knowledge possessed in those hands and fingers has been jealously guarded and handed down from generation to generation. And every bottle of the Ron Millonario Solera 15 Reserva Especial comes attractively wrapped in Toquilla straw, the very same used to make the celebrated Panama hats.
